2017 Word of the Year: Grace

If you read my last post, you know that I’m a fan of “Year of” words. Last year was the Year of Doing. So this year I’m sticking with this idea over making a resolution.
So 2017 is going to be the Year of Grace.

In the most basic sense of the word, being filled with grace means to be “courteous, kind, and pleasant.” But as with everything, I like to add my own spin on things. I think to have a year of grace, I need to be conscious about everything that I am doing. My thoughts, my actions, my relationships, all the way down to my mundane, daily tasks. Making sure that each and every action that I take is God’s love in action. Isn’t that just a great way to define grace? It’s the perfect way to think about how to approach a situation or make a decision. Ask yourself, “How would God handle this?” and you’re set.
The thing about grace is that even if you mess up, its ok. Because you’re covered. Grace allows you to make mistakes and to mess up sometimes. And I’m especially grateful for that because I mess up a lot.
I’m excited to see where this year takes me. And would love if you created a word for your new year too. Let me know what you pick and we can conquer it together!
